Exhibition
Exhibition vehicles are usually very futuristic and concept cars. Most of the exhibition cars aren’t cars that are driven down the road or highways. They are vehicles that manufacturers make with a lot of uncommon ideas that are meant to be displayed in showrooms or car shows. All exhibition cars are meant to catch people’s eyes with their sleek and unique design. Some of these cars that are made are too extravagant for the common person; they wouldn’t be caught driving one. An Exhibition vehicle, concept car and show car are one in the same; they showcase a new style or new updated technology. These vehicles usually have special abilities that are not usually found on cars. There are a few notable concept cars throughout history.
The Buick Y-Job was designed in the late 30’s and was considered to be the first concept car. The Chevrolet Volt was one of the first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle concept cars. The first car designed completely by a woman was the Volvo YCC. Auto shows are full of concept cars; showing off what the manufacturer thinks will be the next big thing. During the 80’s low-rider cars were the popular vehicle, making them into show cars and showing off people’s workmanship and the time it would take to restore a vehicle. They would remove every piece of the vehicle and have it re-chromed or re-custom painted. Low-rider vehicles are known for being exotic and showcasing their workmanship.
